AUGUSTA, Ga., Sept. 29 /PRNewswire/ -- Santa's sleigh may arrive early this year at charitable organizations throughout the Southeast thanks to an anticipated truckload of free furniture to be delivered in November from the La-Z-Boy Furniture Galleries' Semi-Annual Trade-in Sale.
Starting October 1, buyers of new furniture at La-Z-Boy Furniture Galleries will receive generous allowances when they trade in their old, gently used furniture. But La-Z-Boy Furniture Galleries' customers aren't the only ones who will benefit. After the sale ends on Nov. 3, La-Z-Boy Furniture Galleries will donate all of the gently used furniture it collects to six charitable organizations based in cities where La-Z-Boy Furniture Galleries of the Southeast does business.
This includes Augusta Urban Ministries of Augusta, Ga.; Lowcountry Food Bank of Charleston, S.C.; Assistance League of Charlotte/Pineville, N.C.; the Oliver Gospel Mission of Columbia, S.C.; Miracle Hill Ministries of Greenville/Spartanburg, S.C. and Middle Georgia Food Bank of Macon, Ga.
From Oct. 1 - Nov. 3, gently used furniture can be redeemed at La-Z-Boy Furniture Galleries for trade in-values of $150 for any new chair and $250 for all new sofas.
When new furniture is delivered, the furniture item for donation is picked up, stored and then taken to the participating charitable partners by La-Z-Boy Furniture Galleries.
During the trade-in sale, La-Z-Boy Furniture Galleries will also provide the same new furniture discount in return for a donation of a check of $25 or more, written to the charity of the customer's choice.
Last year eleven 53-foot tractor-trailer truckloads of furniture were delivered to six charitable partners. "It's become part of our charitable commitment the communities we serve. We are pleased that it has such a large and far-reaching impact," explained Martha Brown, Co-Owner and Chief Communications Officer of Tipperary Sales, Inc., which owns and operates the eight participating La-Z-Boy Furniture Galleries.
In addition to the very large furniture collection, the trade-in sale last year raised more than $16,000 in cash donations that were also distributed to charities throughout the Southeast.
